How do I accept my server's self-signed SSL certificate?

Last Updated: Sep 12, 2011 05:04PM CDT
When you visit a secure page (https) on your server, you may need to add a security exception because your browser doesn't recognize the self-signed certificate for your custom server's domain name.

 Firefox

If you are using Firefox, first click "I understand the risks"

Then on "Add Exception...". A dialog box pops up.

Wait for a few moments while the certificate loads (or click "Get Certificate"). Ensure the reason that the certificate is not trusted is "Certificate is not trusted, because it hasn't been verified by a recognized authority", ensure that the checkbox "Permanently store this exception" is checked, and click "Confirm Security Exception".

Chrome

When using chrome click on "Proceed anyway" to continue.

Safari

When using Safari click on "Continue" to proceed.
