RSS Feeds and Your TorrentFlux Seedbox (Basic)

With some elite trackers it's not enough anymore to just have a seedbox if you want to do some serious ratio building. While it will give you an distinct advantage over non-seedbox users, for some private trackers it may seem like all the members have seedboxes now. Yeah, they're that popular. RSS works like this: You hook the 'direct download' feed from a private tracker into your seedbox without the need to visit the tracker's website - and it automatically updates the newly added torrents on the tracker. Unless you're continuously refreshing the "browse" page (not recommended), torrents from an RSS feed are often available earlier than they are on the tracker's site.

Professional seeders know where the real uploading action is - and that's RSS downloading. If you can get into a torrent early enough, you'll be in the group that's supplying upload data to everyone else who comes into the torrent after you. To oversimplify it, time matters: every second counts in a fresh swarm. You'll upload more data in the first hour than you will in the following 12.

RSS Feeds in TorrentFlux

Prelude: This is a simple guide aimed towards setting up TorrentFlux to receive private trackers' torrent RSS feeds directly into TorrentFlux-b4rt. This guide will not show how to set up TFlux to automatically inject (start) torrent jobs from the feed; nor does this explain how to apply filtering to the RSS to show what you want it to. However, you'll be able to click each item in the feed to add them to the transfer list.

Setting up RSS Downloading in TorrentFlux

Before you begin, you'll need to have superadmin (owner) or admin access on the seedbox. Regular "users" will not have the ability to use RSS feeds in TorrentFlux-b4rt. Keep this in mind; sub-accounts that were created as "admin" accounts will be able to use RSS, but not "user" sub-accounts. If you're the original purchaser from SeedboxHosting, you'll obviously have all administrative privileges within TorrentFlux, including RSS.

1. Find your RSS Direct Download Feed

You'll need to use the 'Direct Download' RSS link (this will hook directly into newly added torrents on the site). Often there are two different RSS feeds, as shown below:

The 'RSS Direct Download' feed

Below is an actual working RSS Direct Download feed in a browser window. Each link is directly connected to a .torrent file on the tracker.

If the RSS feed URL is not generated for you and the RSS feed opens up instead (like above) - just copy the URL from the browser URL window; we'll be needing this below in Step 2.

2. Add Your RSS Feed / Configure RSS in 'Admin'

Go into your Admin menu in TorrentFlux, and click the "rss" tab from the options located below.

Accessing the 'rss' link from within the 'Admin' area

It will open up a new page that appears like below. Now, 'paste' the RSS feed URL from Step 1 into the text box. Click 'Update' to finish. The feed is now added to TorrentFlux. Feel free to add RSS feeds from multiple private trackers - they'll be organized by tracker name in the list.

Adding an RSS feed URL into TorrentFlux-b4rt

Note: This does not automatically add torrents to the transfer list for downloading. However, the private tracker RSS feed should now be visible in the "RSS Torrents" link back in the TorrentFlux main index page:

Accessing your 'RSS Torrents' link

From here, you can manually select & add torrents to the transfer list. Clicking on a link here in the feed will add the torrent job (but you'll still need to manually start the transfer).

If you generate an RSS error message similar to below, either you've chosen the wrong RSS feed or else you need to add the private tracker to your "Cookie Management" feature.
